Our town Gmünd lies on the edge of the “Hohen Tauern” and “Nockberge” National Parks, at the junction of the rivers “Lieser” and “Malta”. The town’s name “Gmünd” can be traced back to the German expression “münden” or “Mündung” (engl.: estuary) As early as 1346 Gmünd otained a township statute, which made her one of the oldest settlements in Carinthia.
